"There was a period of time, several years during the seventies & eighties when Playboy Foreign Editions editors sent their contributing photographers copies of issues from every country so they could see how their work appeared there. That was 10 different issues each month!

Most of these have been looked at twice, once when I got them and now to get them ready to put on the website. Couldn't spend much time reading them, they are not in English. I did look at the pictures and many of them are more interesting than the American Playboy's. Each edition/country could produce their own pictorials or use Playboy's American photographers stuff. Most of them used the American Playmates in those days but they produced some pretty wild stuff on their own. I always liked seeing my pictorials in foreign editions because they would produce a whole different kind of layout using different pictures.

The other interesting thing about these old foreign editions is that some of the countries had censorship and could not show pubic hair. In fact, in a centerfold shooting, the last thing we did, was take the same picture of the girl with her pubes covered for the Japanese. I think it was Japan and Mexico, maybe Turkey, who had the ban. " RSH
