Vintage Magazines
"Collecting Trends"

Vintage Mens Magazines

It didn't start with Playboy, but certainly Playboy opened the door for many, many more publishing entrepreneurs to enter
the mens magazine world. You'll find many of their efforts here like Penthouse, Gallery, Genesis, Swank and Oui. Some of them
offered here are no longer in existence and others have changed so much since these vintage years that you will hardly recognize them.

There are some you won't find here, like Hustler and some of the more explicit genre. Not because they aren't good magazines,
we just never had a reason to collect them. Hooper's photography of women never quite reached that kind of realistic detail since
"leaving something to the imagination" was more his style. So, like most photographers, he watched other peoples work,
keeping his eye on the competition (so to speak) buy collecting the magazines he might want to shoot for.

Most of these magazines have been handled very little and kept in closed cupboards away from the elements so they are in quite good shape.
We will note any exceptions. The photographs here are taken of the actual magazine which will give you a better idea their condition.
In most cases their is only one copy of a magazine, except for some that contain his work. If his work appears in a magazine,
like Hooper's Playboy pictorials, it will be mentioned in the copy and you can expect to get his autograph on those issues as well. -TH

Vintage Magazines

Working in advertising or editorial means you also collect magazines, as that is part of learning and staying contemporary. Magazines keep
you on top of trends in fashion and art.....at least they used to. Now the internet creates a meme in a day and it is all over the world tomorrow. Oh, well.

So we no longer need to collect them, better we pass them on. You'll find women's fashion mags here and popular men's magazines,
some obscure mags, some mags that only had a couple of issues, and even some foreign mags. One thing is for sure, if you are into looking
at where America has been for the last 40 years, you will love some of these trendy but historical views of it.

These magazines have been stored in closed cabinets away from extremes of temperature and light. The magazines that are left in the collection have very
little wear since they have been handled very little. Any magazine that had ideas worth studying were cut up for tear sheets years ago. Most of these
magazines also have any inserts, cologne samples, calendars or posters still intact. We will do our best to describe
the condition of each individually and any defects. The photos are of the actual magazine for sale.

Vintage Magazines
Women's magazines are an important part of styling photographs because it's necessary to be more than current with make-up and fashion trends. Interior design mags
are good for set ideas and you must have all the latest trendy magazines just to check out the newest, hippest stuff. Most of these fashion & women's mags are
from the 70's and 80's, some are publications that no longer exist.
Hey, you may want them for nostalgic reasons (you love Farrah Fawcett?) or you may want them for the fashions that have come around again? or maybe you are very young and
just want to laugh at how silly all those people looked in bell bottoms and headbands. Either way, we've saved them all these years so someone can enjoy them again!
Some yellowing of the pages from age may appear on some of the older magazines, but for the most part they are
all in great shape. No torn or missing pages and even the annoying inserts are still in them! The photos are of the actual magazine for sale. We will do our best to describe any defects. -TH
