Sergio Franchi 2
Great Italian Singer
One of the greatest romantic, popular tenors of the 20th Century,Sergio Franchi was born in Italy, from a Neapolitan father and a Genovese mother. He used to joke, "From the waist up I'm Neapolitan" (pointing to his heart) "from the waist down" (pointing to his pocket) "I'm Genovese!". The Italian tenor became an instant success in 1962 when he undertook an American tour. Throughout his career of 28 years, Sergio was a dedicated supporter of the arts and many other charitable organizations. His family continues that tradition with a foundation in his name.
