Mel & Showgirls

Mel Larson has been a well known figure in Las Vegas for many years. His involvement in auto racing brought him to Las Vegas to run the Mint 400 for several years and eventually became Vice-President of Marketing at the Circus Circus when Bill Bennett bought it. He was involved in all the Circus properties, including the Luxor before he retired. But racing is his passion and he has continued to be involved in the Indy 500 and other races. This photo was likely taken for the Mint 400 publicity. Why is he with two Silver Slipper showgirls? Because showgirls are more exciting than a guy in a suit and Mel knew that, too.
