Debra Jo Fondren

Girl and a Horse

Playboy's Playmate of the Month Sept, 1977

Photographic print on canvas, stretched on wood, 16 x 20

One of a limited edition of 50, signed and numbered by the artist. First published on the cover of the Vegas Visitor 10/1/76.

"This photograph of Debra Jo Fondren was taken for the cover of the Vegas Visitor, the premier Las Vegas weekly entertainment paper for many years. I had just started testing her for Playboy and we were getting to know each other. She had never really been in front of the camera, but was obviously a natural. She became one of the most popular Playmates with the most pages ever run in a centerfold. She was Playmate of the Year and went on to do more modeling, TV appearances and later hosted a cable talk show."

"The location of the photo shoot was a private horse ranch in Moapa Valley, NV, about 60 miles northeast of Las Vegas belonging to Howard Hughes . The horse in the background was later used in her Playboy centerfold shooting. Debra Jo, an experienced and fearless horsewoman rode the horse bare back and bare assed for several shots, until we decided the Stallion needed a little time to recover. It seems her long hair brushing his rump while she rode...got him a little too excited." RSH
