We are in the process of making a Public Television documentary about the life of Sophie Tucker. In our research we have discovered that in 1958 The Barry Ashton Dancers were one of Sophie's opening acts.
If Barry or any of those dancers are still alive, can you help us get in touch with them if
that were in the group at that time? We want to interview them for our movie. Any contact information would be much appreciated.

I just haven't ran across any photos Hooper took of you except one head shot, I think when you were at the Palomino. He shot most of Barry Ashton shows in the early 70's....I don't know how he missed you! If I do find any photos with you in them, you can bet we will put them on the site.

I, obviously, was not one of Barry's showgirls. I did, however, work for Barry in one of his shows CHIPS OFF THE OLD BLOCK. I found this site searching for info on that show to try to remember who were the "chips" in that show. I remember Carol Costello and Ted Lewis, Jr. but am not recalling the rest nor the back-up boys working with me.
I also am curious to know if Barry is still around. A Google search only brings up this.

While living in Beverly Hills and arranging for Vegas shows at the Flamingo,Desert Inn and Sahara, I wrote/arranged music for Barry for his Miami shows and several others. I know for a fact that Barry dies some years ago.

I worked in Puerto Rico at the Americana Hotel . We did the 2001 Space Odysey, Romeo and Juliet and I did the trapeze act and trained two girls to do the side ropes. Gibi, I knew Chuck in Reno; he was a very close friend of mine. I worked for the Joy Healey Dancers at the Mapes Hotel, and he did the lighting for the shows. This was from 1956-58. I'm sorry to tell you he was killed in a robbery where he was working in 1996 in Los Angeles. I was also a friend of Lisa Lynn who worked for Barry when you did. Do you know where she might be now? My Father in law is a nephew of the late Barry Ashton. His father was Barrys Brother. Apparently he died aged 53 which makes that 1984. He was from Newcastle upon Tyne - England but moved to USA, worked and passed in the US. Hi I worked for Barry at the Chase-Parke Plaza Hotel in St.Louis.."The International Follies", as a showgirl. Shari Pinto, (another showgirl),and I stayed together at the Chase Park Apts. The show was closed due to President Kennedy's assination. We worked with the Maldonado Dancers (Larry, Jerry Jackson, another guy, and Poji and Jackie).
The line captain was Marilyn, and I remember most of the others, if anyone is interested. It was 1963.

I have seen lots of my old co-workers but none of me, or some of the other famous entertainers. Alexis, Skye Blue, and myself. Paul Perry has Scott Hooper take pictures of me at the same time frame as Christy Campbell, Crystal Blue and Kari St. Clair.My pictures were featured on the walls like Christie Cambell was. I was well known for my lotion act, and dancing ability.Please comment if you have questions. Nikki
